In an age of music services such and Spotify and Apple Music. Listening to music on the radio has become lost in the shuffle. Pun intended. I want to start by taking a look at how this happened. When Pandora first came out, it was basically like creating a personal radio station. You pick an artist or a song and Pandora spits out a bunch of songs just like it. Then came the ability to create playlists which then evolved into just being able to pick whatever song you wanted to play whenever you want. While this is awesome and is now the best option at any social gathering and just about 90% of the time, I think we’re forgetting an old friend that was the staple for decades.
Listening to music on the radio is a forgotten art. Specifically for those of us that listen to country music. Now when we stream music we always have near perfect audio quality, but there is just something about that that slight static and added twang of country on the radio. The mystery of not knowing what song is coming up next, then hearing a song that you haven’t heard in awhile and every word coming back to you as you roll a comfy 8 miles per hour over the speed limit with the windows down is something you just can’t replicate. One of the best aspects of music is how many different ways there are to experience it. So I urge all of you to dust off an old classic, and support your local country stations on your next commute.
